Salute to World War II Sailors - Save 20% - 1945 Navy FDC

Based on a 1942 photograph of cadets at the Naval Training Station in Texas, it was one of the first U.S. stamps to picture identifiable faces of living Americans. Over the years, dozens of Navy veterans claimed to be among the 11 faces on the stamp! Issued at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, to honor the contributions of the U.S. Navy in World War II, the young smiling sailors in their summer whites symbolized the energy and spirit of the more than 3 million Navy personnel whose skill and dedication helped lead the Allies to victory.  Cachet artwork may vary.
