#644 - 2¢ Burgoyne Surrender

Based on a painting by John Trumbull hanging in the U.S. Capitol, this stamp depicts the surrender of British General John Burgoyne to General Horatio Gates of the Continental Army, which effectively terminated the British presence in northern New York and Vermont.
