#2470 - 25¢ Admiralty Head
In 1858 the United States acquired a 10 acre parcel of land on Whidbey Island, Washington. A lighthouse was constructed on the site just before the outbreak of the Civil War. Following the demolition of the original structure, a new lighthouse was constructed in 1903. Deactivated in 1922, the Admiralty Head Lighthouse has since been restored and is open to the public ten months out of the year. Scott 2470 Admiralty Head
