The "Roaring Twenties" saw a definitive series featuring new portraits as well as pictorials for the first time since 1869. Commemorative stamps became larger and more frequent. Additional experiments led to new printing methods and perforations, and for the first time United States postage stamps were overprinted. The first commemorative sheet promoting a philatelic exhibition was issued.
