Semipostals

Semipostal stamps are sold at a premium over face value, with the excess amount over face going to a designated charity. Although in use in other nations for over 100 years, the U.S. did not issue a semipostal stamp until 1998.  Sales of the breast cancer stamp alone has raised nearly $100 million for medical research!
