Constructed in 1875 from hand-carved blocks of limestone, the Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse alerted sailors that they were 30 miles east from the mouth of the Niagara River. Although it is somewhat remote, the living quarters of the lighthouse are available to rent out for week long stays during the summer so tourists can experience for themselves what life as a lighthouse keeper was like during the late 19th century.
