#5179 - (49¢) Nebraska Statehood
Nebraska was the 37th state admitted to the United States in 1867. Given its central location, the state is crossed by many historic routes, including the Transcontinental Railroad. Passage of the Homestead Acts led to rapid growth in the state during the late 1870s and the development of a large agriculture sector. Corn is still a major crop, giving the state its Cornhusker nickname. Scott 5179 Nebraska Statehood
