#5471S- Harlem Renaissance - Set of 4

These four stamps commemorate members from one of the great artistic and literary movements in American history, the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. Beginning after World War I, large numbers of creative African Americans migrated to New York forming organizations and friendships that led to this movement firmly establishing African Americans as an invigorating voice in literature and the arts. The four portraits in these stamps honor writer and philosopher Alain Locke, novelist Nella Larsen; writer and historian Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, and poet Anne Spencer.
