#5664S - (5¢) Butterfly Garden Flowers - Set of 2

Butterfly gardening plays a vital role in helping to preserve populations of these beautiful pollinators. Recognizing the importance of butterflies to biosystems world-wide, the USPS issued two nondenominated stamps designed for bulk mailings by authorized nonprofit organizations. The Butterfly Garden Flowers stamps are issued in coils with two designs, cosmos and scabiosas, two flowers that butterflies love to seek out. Scabiosas are also called pincushion flowers since they look like a pincushion filled with needles. Cosmos, also known as the Mexican aster, grow on a sprawling plant that produces an abundance of blossoms. Adding these two plants to a well-designed garden filled with plenty of color from native plants will provide a beautiful refuge for butterflies and gardeners alike. With recent concern about assisting these winged pollinators, butterfly gardening as a hobby has grown. The requirements for a successful butterfly garden are few: plenty of sun, the right types of plants, and no pesticides. The garden can be as small as a few containers on a sunny patio or as large as acres of land in the country or in a city park. Scott 5664-65 (5¢) Butterfly Garden Flowers Set of 2
