# 891 - 3¢ Cyrus Hall McCormick - Inventor
During the middle of the 19th century inventors were racing to develop a workable reaper as the next great advancement in agricultural mechanization. Cyrus Hall McCormick developed such a product, patenting his design in 1834. Though his claim to the patent was bitterly contested, McCormick used his strong business acumen and aggressive marketing to overwhelm his rivals. McCormick fathered the McCormick Harvesting Machine Co., the forerunner of the International Harvester Company. Scott 891 Cyrus Hall McCormick
