#C18 - 50¢ Graf Zeppelin: Plate Block - green

On a 1933 flight from Germany to the Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago, the Graf Zeppelin crossed the Atlantic to South America, then flew to Miami, Florida and Akron, Ohio before finally arriving in the Windy City. This treasured airmail commemorative is affectionately called "The Baby Zeppelin. Limited availability and high face value resulted in 90% of all that were printed to be destroyed by the Post Office when the stamp was withdrawn from sale!
