Fiume #P2-P3 Eagle Triangles - 1919 Complete Mint Never-Hinged Set of 2

After World War I this strategic port was disputed between Italy and Yugoslavia. In 1919 Italian nationalist Gabriele d’Annunzio organized legionnaires and seized this city-state. It issued interesting postage stamps until it was annexed by Italy in 1924. Today it is the Croatian city of Rijeka.
