New South Wales #98 - 1897 Mint Issue

New South Wales was one of six British colonies in Australia that united in 1901 to form the Commonwealth of Australia. One of its final postal issues as a colony is this 1897 one penny stamp depicting its coat of arms, a cross bearing the “Lion of the South” and four stars representing the Southern Cross.
