Guadeloupe #168-86 - 1945 Complete Mint Set of 19

While France was under Nazi occupation during World War II, many French Colonies remained loyal to the Free French movement headed by General De Gaulle. This colorful set, depicting a stylized pair of dolphins, includes the Cross of Lorraine, symbol of the Free French. It was printed in England and secretly delivered to the West Indies colony to signify that the Free French were in control rather than the Nazi-controlled Vichy government. Guadeloupe #168-86
