Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee Tuvalu #45a - 1977 Mint Sheet

Participating in the biggest event in the British Empire in 1977, the commonwealth nation of Tuvalu issued this sheet celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth's reign. The stamps picture two scenes from the Queen's coronation, and a 1959 visit of Prince Philip to Vaitupu in what was then the British territory of the Ellice Islands, carried ashore in a ceremonial dugout canoe. Framing the stamps is a millennium of British crowns, from the simple gold crown of William the Conqueror to the elaborate St. Edward's Crown used at all coronations in the last 300 years.
