#5458 - (70¢) Garden Corsage

Corsage is based on a French term meaning bodice of a dress, which was where a bouquet of flowers was usually worn on a woman's dress. Several hundred years ago corsages may have been worn to ward off evil spirits and prevent disease. Over time their role became ceremonial being used for special, formal events such as proms and weddings. This colorful stamp features a corsage with peach roses, a pink ranunculus, and heather. This stamp is similar in design to the Contemporary Boutonniere, released on the same day in 2020. The two are often paired together in invitation announcements. Scott 5458 (70¢) Garden Corsage
