Nazi leader Adolf Hitler began his European campaign by "incorporating" countries with significant ethnic German populations. Following the "Anschluss", literally "unification", of Austria and Nazi Germany, Hitler annexed Czechoslovakia with considerable support from the ethnic Germans living in Czech Sudetenland.
