France formally surrendered to Nazi Germany on June 22, 1940. Following the armistice, France came under the control of French Government located at Vichy, a Nazi collaborative government. Even after France was liberated following the Allied invasion of France in operation Overlord, the Vichy government continued to operate as a government in exile in Nazi Germany. Scott 915 France Flag
